Fremantle City 4 – 0 Sorrento
Sunday’s pair of matches started with a dominant display at Hilton Park from Fremantle City as they put four past Sorrento.
Fremantle started the game out strong, with the first goal coming in the 14th minute. Lacey Heyes pick-pocketted Sorrento’s number 14 Jessica Jahn at the edge of the 18-yard box, before slipping a pass to Abbey Green. From there, Green managed a left-footed strike, hitting the top right-hand corner.
Heys has been in superb form at the start of this season, and 20 minutes after providing the assist of the opener, Heys added her own name to the scoresheet. A string of passes were formed through the centre of the pitch, before a slight defensive error allowed the number eight to tip the ball over the rising hands of Amalia Caceres.
Going into the second half with a two goal advantage, Fremantle looked to build on the intensity and momentum they had gained in the first 45 minutes.
Green secured herself a brace in the 51st minute in quite a fashion with a stellar individual goal. Following a lost backpass from the Sorrento defence, Green was able to pick up the ball, making an inwards run holding off four defenders, giving her the opportunity to slide a shot across the turf and into the back of the net.
The final goal of the match came in the 59th minute as Harper Collinson put away a screamer from just inside the right-hand side of the penalty area.

Perth Azzurri 0-0 Balcatta Etna
Two of the league’s heavyweights faced off on Friday night under the Dorrien Gardens lights, but couldn’t produce a goal.
Maya Archibald came close for the home side when her effort hit the side netting on the right hand side, with Balcatta keeper Rebecca Bennett covering her near post excellently.
Bennett then produced a superb save to deny Sam Mathers when the Azzurri midfielder smashed a shot from the edge of the area in a central position, as the effort was pushed up onto the bar.
If defending Top Four Cup winners Balcatta can overcome Perth RedStar in their game in hand on Wednesday, there will be a three way logjam at the top of the ladder.
